The Blooming Spectrum: A Celebration of Growth & Happiness
The Blooming Spectrum is not just a concept—it’s a journey of transformation, inspired by scientific research and personal experience.
📌 Why Eight?
- March 8th is International Women’s Day, a celebration of growth, empowerment, and transformation.
- Eight years ago, I began my gratitude journal, a practice that reshaped my understanding of emotional intelligence, happiness, and self-growth.
- The number eight symbolises renewal and continuous growth—just like the journey of self-improvement.
My Personal Journey: From Awareness to Blooming
This journey started long before I realised it. Over a decade ago, I attended a seminar led by Astrid Arens, a well-known personal development coach from Germany. That day, she said something that completely shifted my perspective:
💬 “Bunt heißt mehr zu sehen.” (“Colourful means seeing more.”)
At the time, I mostly wore neutral and dark colours, not realising how much my surroundings—both physically and mentally—were shaping my confidence and mood. I didn’t know how much the way we engage with colour influences our emotional state, just like our words and thoughts do.
Years later, when I started my gratitude journal, I truly began to see the world differently. Practising gratitude made me more aware of the small, beautiful details in life—a skill that, over time, completely reshaped my mindset, self-confidence, and overall happiness.
Now, while working on my upcoming workbook, 1% Happier Me Today—a comprehensive guide on how small, daily improvements create lasting happiness—I apply everything I’ve learned from The Science of Happiness, Emotional Intelligence, Autosuggestion techniques, and Mindfulness practices. But I’m also constantly growing.
Recently, I took a closer look at Colour Psychology—something primarily used in business, sales, marketing, and design—and realized that its influence goes far beyond that. The way we use colour in our daily lives impacts our emotions, confidence, and overall well-being.
Thinking back to Astrid’s words, I now fully understand that “seeing more” means becoming aware of the tools available to us—whether it’s colours, words, emotions, or habits—that can help us grow and thrive.
This is also why I wrote my latest blog post on autosuggestion, exploring how repeating the right words at the right time can reprogram self-doubt into confidence. Just as we can train our minds through intentional thoughts, we can also use colour psychology as a tool to influence our emotional well-being.
